The Hog's Trough Dance (5:21) -- In addition to farting around on my own, I've lately been working with other folks as well (hopefully on a more full-time basis soon). This is a reworking of the first track from A Sentimental Attachment to Objects, featuring Everett Ray (lead guitar) and Darren Rogers (keyboards, noises). It was recorded in Ev's basement in the spring of 2007.
Backdrifts (4:01) -- An acoustic cover of the Radiohead song from their 2003 album Hail to the Thief. I figured it'd be interesting to try this song acoustic.
The Flower and the King (2:26) -- A song sketch that I'm not really sure what to do with, but I kind of like it.
Golden (2:40) -- A song sketch that will likely show up on the next record.
Hard to Find (3:31) -- A cover of the American Analog Set song from their 2003 album Promise of Love. It's pretty straightforward as a cover -- obviously a bit more low-fi, but it's one of my favourite songs, so I wanted to give it a shot.
Heart Attacks (2:58) -- A preview of the next album. This one's fully baked, not a sketch.
Icarus (Acoustic) (3:24) -- The original sketch for the track from Scatterbrain. In some ways I like this version better.
Louis Le Prince (2:02) -- I've never really been able to work this little sketch in anywhere, but it's such a nerdy song, I love it.
Mer Princess (4:36) -- Another sketch that has a lot going for it, but which I haven't really been able to futz with yet.
Sahara Gold (2:10) -- A cover of Bruce Cockburn from his 1984 album Stealing Fire. Always really liked this one and I tried to kind of make it my own a bit.
Shytown (4:11) -- A cover of Pete Krebs, from the No Confidence Man/Shytown split single with Elliott Smith (1994). This is one of the first covers I ever recorded and I still like it.
Tractor Rape Chain (3:16) -- A cover of my favourite song on Guided By Voice's 1994 album Bee Thousand. It's not as sophisticated as their version (and that kinda says something) but I had fun with it.
Who Could Win a Rabbit? (2:01) -- A cover of Animal Collective, from their 2004 album Sung Tongs. I mostly just wanted to see if I even could do this. Apparently I could.
Wolves (2:30) -- A sketch that will definitely be on the next album, cos I like it a lot.
